Fiber-reactive dyes are used to add luster to my wearable art pieces, for example in painted woven silk scarves.

Starting with a 20 yd. canvas of threads stretched out across a long table, threads are painted with dyes to approximate the colors in the images that inspired the work. Seven scarves are painted, one after another. Each develops its own individual persona. Sometimes using my gloved hands I push colors together, and then add liquid to 'wash' colors out. It feels like finger-painting, and adds excitement to the process.
